Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your Tanzania adventure. Can't find your answer? Just ask us.
01
When is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro or go on safari?
Tap to reveal
Answer
Tanzania is a year-round destination. The clearest trekking conditions on Kilimanjaro are January–March and June–October. For safari, the dry season (June–October) offers the best wildlife viewing, while the Great Migration river crossings in the Serengeti are typically July–September. We'll help you pick the ideal dates for what you want to see.
02
Do I need previous experience to climb Kilimanjaro?
Tap to reveal
Answer
No technical climbing experience is required — Kilimanjaro is a trek, not a technical climb. Good general fitness and determination matter, so train with regular hikes beforehand. We build careful acclimatization into every itinerary to maximise your chance of reaching the summit.
03
What is your Kilimanjaro summit success rate?
Tap to reveal
Answer
Our success rates are high thanks to experienced guides, longer acclimatization profiles and daily health monitoring with pulse oximeters. Choosing a route with an extra day — such as 7-day Machame or 8-day Lemosho — significantly improves your odds.
04
What's included in the tour price?
Tap to reveal
Answer
Our packages typically include professional guides, park and conservation fees, accommodation or camping equipment, meals during the trip, and airport/hotel transfers. International flights, visas, travel insurance, tips and personal gear are usually not included. Each quote lists exactly what is and isn't covered so there are no surprises.
05
How do I book, and what is the deposit?
Tap to reveal
Answer
Message us via the contact form, email or WhatsApp with your preferred trip and dates. We'll send a tailored quote and itinerary. A deposit secures your spot, and the balance is typically paid before or on arrival.
06
Is it safe? What about health on the mountain?
Tap to reveal
Answer
Safety is our top priority. Our guides are trained in wilderness first aid, carry first-aid kits, pulse oximeters and emergency oxygen, and perform twice-daily health checks on the mountain. Our team is with you throughout to ensure a safe, well-supported experience.
07
What should I pack?
Tap to reveal
Answer
For treks: warm layers, a quality sleeping bag, waterproof jacket, sturdy broken-in boots, sun protection and a headlamp. For safari: light, neutral-coloured clothing, a hat, binoculars and a camera. Once you book, we send a detailed, trip-specific packing list — and some gear can be rented locally.
08
Can you arrange custom or combined itineraries?
Tap to reveal
Answer
Absolutely — it's our specialty. We regularly combine a Kilimanjaro climb, a safari and a Zanzibar beach stay into one seamless trip, tailored to your dates, budget and pace.
09
Do I need a visa and vaccinations for Tanzania?
Tap to reveal
Answer
Most visitors need a tourist visa, obtainable online (e-visa) or on arrival. A Yellow Fever certificate is required if you're arriving from a country where it's endemic. We recommend consulting a travel clinic about routine vaccinations and antimalarial medication, and we're happy to share the latest guidance when you book.
10
How do tips work, and are porters treated fairly?
Tap to reveal
Answer
Tipping is customary for guides, cooks and porters, and we'll give you clear, recommended guidelines. We're committed to fair wages and ethical treatment for our whole crew — proper pay, fair loads and good equipment are non-negotiable for us.
